![]() LightDM and SDDM still needs some work and "will be made available in the next update". Imagine an OS for the software developer, maker and computer science professional who uses their computer as a tool to discover and create. It's important to note that these fixes are for GDM3 only. If you want to help test these fixes, enable the proposed repository (make sure you're familiar with this because the proposed repository may cause instability!), then follow the instructions in the bug description, and post your findings there. You'll need a laptop that uses an Intel+Nvidia hybrid GPU, and use the 390 Nvidia driver to test this. ![]() ![]() The fixes have been backported to Ubuntu 18.04, and are available for testing in the proposed repository. These issues are caused by changes in logind, Nvidia drivers packaging (which is now more granular), and the migration from LightDM to GDM3, and they were fixed in Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic Cuttlefish. Now I cure it with screen blocking, and after reauthorization artefacts vanishes for a few minutes. It shows unpredictably and sometime pass away by itself. Once you've activated a driver Ubuntu will automatically keep it up-to-date (for most drivers except NVidia). Its actual only for Ubuntu and not for Windows. If you see anything listed you can install the latest version (Nvidia may show multiple, use the highest number - Intel typically shows one item). To install or remove packages, press ' Ctrl + Alt + F2 ' which will take you to a semi graphical desktop, use your normal login name (username) and type your password (doesn't show in the window or give any indication that it is being noted). ![]() ![]() I have this problem on my laptop HP Elitebook 820 g1. Ubuntu 18.04 shipped with two issues for Intel+Nvidia hybrid graphics users: an increase in power consumption when the discrete GPU is off, and the inability to switch between power profiles with a simple logout (a restart is currently required). Ubuntu 16.04/18.04 + i5-4200u Screen artifacts. ![]()
